Diveheart Founder's Thoughts on the Documentary

I spoke with Jim Elliot, founder of Diveheart, about the "vision" of the documentary the other day.   Here's what he said:

One of Diveheart’s visions is to capture the imagination of children, adults and veterans with disabilities and the opportunities that the upcoming Bonaire documentary with Ana Calvo will bring are very exciting.

Through the documentary, we’re hoping that the Diveheart message will reach many of those with disabilities who don’t even realize that scuba diving is an option in their lives.

Capturing the imagination: what film making is all about.

Ana Calvo's Story

Ana Calvo is the reason why the Diveheart Documentary is happening.  Here's what she has to say about Divheheart and SCUBA diving:

A year ago I had the opportunity to scuba dive for the first time with the organization Diveheart. Since 2001, Diveheart has been changing the lives of its disabled divers, helping them focus on what they can do instead of what they can not. Each year Diveheart Promotes and facilitates programs that bring disabled children, adults and veterans to the sport of scuba diving. Diveheart has found that scuba diving is the kind of exciting and adventurous sport that can help build confidence and independence in both children and adults with disabilities.

Diving has motivated me in leading a healthier life style and hope to motivate other
individuals with disabilities become active . I am asking you to please help this cause in endorsing this documentary and help spread the message of abilities.

Thank you

Ana Calvo

Great Diveheart Video

This is a great video of Jim's dive in February off Key Largo with Greg Rodriguez, a Marine veteran.  There's some really gorgeous stuff here and it gives you a sense of what Diveheart is able to do for people.

Here's a write up of the event from the Miami Herald.

First Post

Hello, Internet!

This is my first post on the Diveheart Documentary Blog.  This is meant to be a place for people to find out about the production of our documentary about Diveheart's October 2010 Bonaire dive.
